OneRepublic

American Pop Punk band
The bands first single, Apologize, has been Top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 for ten consecutive weeks, rocketing all the way to 2
OneRepublic was founded in Colorado in 2003, largely after the band’s performances on its own MySpace page created enough of a buzz to garner them a contract with Mosley Music Group in 2006. The origins of the group go back to the mid 1990’s, when Zach Filkins and Ryan Tedder became friends and band mates while still in high school. The two drifted apart, until Tedder relocated to Los Angeles and began a career as a songwriter; he eventually convinced Filkins to move out there with him and resume performing together, this time as the band OneRepublic.
The lineup currently consists of Ryan Tedder (lead vocals, piano), Zach Filkins (lead guitar, viola), Drew Brown (rhythm guitar), Brent Kutzle (bass, cello), Eddie Fisher (drums), and Brian Willett (keyboards, percussion, violin). The band achieved its first commercial success on Myspace as an unsigned act. In late 2002, after OneRepublic played shows throughout the Los Angeles area, several record labels approached the band with interest, but the band signed with Velvet Hammer, an imprint of Columbia Records. They recorded their first album with producer Greg Wells during the summer and fall of 2005 at his studio, Rocket Carousel, in Culver City, California. The album was scheduled for release on June 6, 2006, but the group was dropped by Columbia two months before the release date. The lead single of the album, "Apologize", on Myspace, where it reached number one.
